- Pfaff Passport 3.0 Sewing Machine
Not only does it look good, it performs great. The newest passport in the 3/4 size sewing machine it is the “model 3” known as the Passport 3. It is a computerised and has in total over 100 stitch options, as well as IDT dual feed system.
The idea of the new Pfaff Passport 3 is to have the ability and stitch functions of a top-of-the-range computerised sewing machine, yet in a smaller size frame that weighs only 6.7Kg. It includes a hard plastic protective cover that has a handy storage area, a perfect fit for the foot control and power lead.
The ability to snip both top and bottom threads at the touch of is a delight to use at the end of a seam. The foot control is electronic, so using the passport 3 you will not get that feeling of the sewing machine stitching fasted then needed. The maximum speed slider can be set to a position, where by no matter how hard you press the foot control, the machine will never go faster than your settings. Plus it even has the ability to sew with out using the foot control, you simply set the max speed and press the start button, which is great when darning or doing free-motion embroidery. Another feature quilt users will like is the fabric feed can be dropped at the press of a button.
Weather it’s a buttonhole, satin stitch or quilting stitch you need, they are all available to view on the pull out stitch overview panel. You simply select the stitch number in the LED window and the Pfaff Passport 3 will set the stitch width and length automatically to suit 90% of fabric types. Although it is possible to adjust these setting if needed. Any stitch can be set to a wide 7mm width if needed.
Other things like the built in needle threader and the thread spool holder that can be used in the horizontal position for regular size spools of thread or in the vertical position for larger cones make for a very well thought out sewing machine that is portable enough to take to sewing classes or used by fashion students.

Stanley, Co Durham Review by Doris Watson
Overall rating I bought a Pfaff Passport 3.0 to replace my trusty Pfaff 1212 which I'd had for over 40 years. It offers more stitches than I will probably ever use, but I wanted a machine with IDT (dual feed) which my old 1212 had. I didn't like the black fascia of the cheaper Passport 2.0, which did fewer stitches but enough for my needs, so I chose the cream coloured Passport 3.0. It's a beautiful machine and much lighter than my old 1212, which was of metal construction. It does everything my old machine did, but some things are fiddlier to do, such as selecting the density of a zig-zag stitch. It sews beautiful automatic buttonholes (including keyhole shape) but the size is limited to about 1.5", which is adequate for most purposes. If there is a way of doing larger buttonholes I haven't found it yet and the instruction manual makes no reference to overriding the automated process. Overall, I'm delighted with the Passport 3.0 and would highly recommend it. I just wish Pfaff did a more basic machine with the usual butthole, zig-zag, hemming and stretch and decorative stitches but also had the IDT system which, after 40 years use, I wouldn't like to be without.
